Dr. Madelynn Garrelts grew up in Peachtree City, Georgia surrounded by dogs, cats, and horses. She received her veterinary education from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016. Her undergraduate degree was completed at Berry College in Rome, Georgia, where she studied Animal Science and worked with dairy cattle. She decided to attend these schools to become a veterinarian after realizing this job would be the perfect combo of her interest in a career in the medical field and love for working with animals.
Between finishing school and moving to South Carolina, she worked as an emergency veterinarian in Georgia. She received the UGA CVM award for Proficiency in Emergency and Critical Care. While she still very much loves emergency cases, Dr. Garrelts also has an interest in soft tissue surgery, dental care, and work with geriatric animals. She looks forward to the close doctor-client relationship that general practice offers, as well as working with the team at Cleveland Park Animal Hospital.
Dr. Garrelts has relocated to Greenville and lives with her husband, Owen. She has a pushy but friendly chocolate lab named Lucy. Her hobbies include walking and hiking with her dogs after work, trying new restaurants in the area, decorating her home, reading, and traveling whenever possible.
