Dr. Jennifer Schaefer, DVM, MPH-VPH graduated from The Ohio State University in 2012. She and her husband Mark then relocated to Ft. Irwin, CA, to manage the veterinary facility on the military post. As an Army Captain, her responsibilities included caring for military working dogs, horses, and personal animals of other service members. Later, they moved back to Ohio to be closer to their family and raise their two children.
During this time, Dr. Schaefer pursued her passion for shelter medicine by serving as the Medical Director at the Humane Society of Delaware County for five years. Seeking sunnier weather, she and her family packed up and moved to South Carolina, where she has been in private practice for three years, supporting the bond between humans and animals.
Due to her background in veterinary public health, Dr. Schaefer places great importance on preventative care. She thoroughly enjoys collaborating with families to develop personalized treatment plans that cater to the unique needs of both the pets and their owners. Additionally, she has a particular interest in soft tissue surgery, dentistry/oral surgery, and pain management.
